Heritage Handrail - Left Volute (Vic Ash) GAF745-C42 not a M6 Left-Hand versionWhere would you normally use the timber handrail volute (or scroll)? As a decorative way of terminating the handrail at the bottom of a staircase. Combined with a bullnose tread, a volute (aka scroll) will give any staircase that look of grandeur. How do I know whether I need a left hand or right hand one? Standing at the bottom of a staircase and looking up the stair, a left hand volute is on your left side, and a right hand volute is on your right.
