Japanese Wood Carved Ainu Bear Statue Vtg Sculpture Hokkaido Brown Stand AB117 White Green fabric straps to secureVintage Japanese Wood Carving of Ainu Bear Famously from Hokkaido and northern Japan, this large, intricately hand carved bear statue with a fish in its maw is a traditional Ainu folk handicraft. It includes a wooden stand with carved kanji on the backside. Both bear and stand have been stained a medium brown color and coated with clear lacquer for some shine. In Ainu spirituality, bears and other animals are considered vehicles for the divine. Bear
