Friend or Foe? National Model Aircraft Project of World War II memorial brick remote-controlled gun turretsAdult Aerospace Academy Tuesday, May 7th, 10AM 11AM In the wake of Pearl Harbor, the U. S. Navy and the Bureau of Aeronautics looked to the Nations school aged youth to build 500,000 model airplanes. Perceived as vital training aids, these wood models were used to teach pilots, aerial gunners, and ground observers to rapidly identify friend from foe. Boys and girls across the nation answered the call and changed the hobby of modeling forever. NEAM
