On the Deck of the SS Islander, 1898. Buildings; Government beets and cucumbers are amongCrowd on the deck of the SS Islander looking out onto the dock and houses of Douglas Island near Juneau, 1898. The crowd is dressed in winter coats and appears to be exclusively men. George Brownlee is at the beginning of his trip to the Klondike. A rather large church can be seen on the Island with some large under construction buildings.
